To create a world where science and technology

are celebrated

where young people dream of becoming science and technology

heroes.

- Dean Kamen, Founder of FIRST

Inspiring young people to be science and technology leaders, engaging them in mentor based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, and promote leadership.

Completely Engaging

Our great team is very innovative and extremely creative, and everyone always has something to do. Nobody is left behind.

Something For Everyone

No matter what you’re good at, everyone always has a job to do in our team, whether its programming or engineering.

Extremely Talented

The members of our team are all extremely talented. We have many experienced future engineers and programmers.

Teamwork

Teamwork is the number one priority when it comes to designing a robot. Our teammates all work together in a nice, orderly fashion.

Independence

Some tasks must be performed by ones self. Our members work independently when needed and accomplish goals without help from others.

Leadership

Our team officers display strong traits of leadership, which is needed in a busy, bustling environment.

Robots

Throughout the years we have made a total of 12 robots, all with different characteristics and traits for different competitions.

Founded in 2003, Tech Tiger Robotics was a robotics club started to teach about engineering and programming. In 2004, we entered in our first competition with a robot made with simpler materials, such as plywood. Being our rookie year we didn’t know much about the proper organization of the wiring and electronics of the robot itself, but we did however manage to win the Rookie Inspiration award. Throughout the years our team has learned more about organization and the overall robotic experience, leading to some of our best robots we have ever made. We have competed in many competitions, even winning some regional competitions in the years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2013.

Our mission here at Team 1251 is to inspire kids to succeed and progress in the modern era. Through programming and engineering, we show young men and women alike what our robots do and how they were designed and programmed.

Tech Tiger ecosystem

We believe that the parents are the backbone of the team, they support everything. Some of the parents also then become mentors, and help us acquire sponsors. After mentors and sponsors comes the students, who then help us with the learning, competitions, outreach, and the mentoring.

Our team does many community outreaches throughout the year. Some of our members mentor the middle school students in FLL (FIRST Lego League) robotics. We also do many fundraisers, such as car washes, bowling fundraisers, and restaurant fundraisers.

What is FIRST?

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a non-profit organization founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen, the inventor of the segway. Their mission is to show young people that science, technology, and problem solving can be fun, educational, and can potentially lead to many careers. FIRST holds a robotics competition, called FRC, every year, in which multiple teams are tasked to build a robot and program it in six weeks. FRC competitions get high school teens involved in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), encouraging them to break boundaries through their untapped innovation and creativity. A different game is chosen every year and the robot must be able to play the game. FIRST sponsors every single FRC team, including ours. Other than FRC, FIRST also holds many other smaller robotics leagues such as FLLJ, FLL, and FTC.
